Final Cut Pro Studio 2 Install on Lion (or without Rosetta)

Installing Final Cut Pro Studio 2 on Lion (or without Rosetta):

Today while building a new machine with Lion on I ran across the issue of not being able to install Final Cut Studio 2 through the normal means. After some quick normal Google searching I came across the needed info to install it directly from the command line (not sure why I didn’t think of this but hey that’s what Google is for!)

Pop open your terminal and copy paste:

Final Cut Studio 2 Install:

sudo installer -package /Volumes/Final\ Cut\ Studio/Installer/FinalCutStudio.mpkg -target /

This is going to take some time of course and you’ll see some errors that look like this (just ignore them):

PackageKit: Token definition is missing bundle identifier, skipping: {
path = “/Applications/FCP4.app”;
searchPlugin = CheckPath;

Once it’s done you’ll simply see:

installer: The install was successful.

LiveType Media Discs

sudo installer -package /Volumes/LiveType\ Media\ 1/Installer/LiveTypeMedia1.mpkg -target /

sudo installer -package /Volumes/LiveType\ Media\ 2/Installer/LiveTypeMedia2A.pkg/ -target /
